As the Fall semester comes to a close, I wanted to thank you for working with Louisiana Tech University. I know how busy we become as teachers, and I appreciate your dedication and the time you take teaching our students. After the holiday break, Louisiana Tech will begin contacting your guidance counselors to request grades for your Fall classes. It is tentatively scheduled that we will send out grade request forms the week of January 5th, and we will ask that grades are returned by the 16th.
Concerning our review of papers, I would like to encourage you to try grading electronically through Turnitin or Moodle. I know this isn't always feasible, but if you decide to continue grading paper essays, we would like to review at least the graded/commented final papers for your courses. We will no longer collect all essays from each student, as I feel copies of graded final essays--often the persuasive research essay--should show the student's best work. Please share these works with us electronically and endeavor to forward your copies to us by the middle of February. I'll send out a reminder then too.
Thanks again for all that you do for our students! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy some well-deserved rest!

My name is Ernest Rufleth, and this summer (2014) I am going to become the English Dual Enrollment Coordinator for Louisiana Tech University. This blog is an experiment in communication. I hope to streamline the communication process and make it easier for our partnering Dual Enrollment teachers and schools to access materials necessary to the administration of their courses. I will try to post “Frequently Asked Questions” here that may be of interest to others, but you may always contact me with any questions you might have about administering DE at your institution.
